Reunions

Disclaimer: I do not own Final Fantasy 7 or the characters. They are the property of Squaresoft, god of video game RPG's. The story idea is mine; however, I am not making any kind of profit from it. It's all in good fun and sharing.
Spoilers: Basically the whole game. If you haven't finished the game (though I'm sure everyone interested has finished FF7 by now), you need to have at least finished disk 1. If you're only on disk 2, assume that the good guys won.

Prologue

The last thing I remember clearly is seeing him. He stood before me, horror in his eyes over what was occurring. I had known it was going happen, and I knew it was necessary. I had accepted it. But he couldn't. I could tell that from the look in his eyes.

But it was too late.

Then there was light. Around me, in me, everywhere and nowhere at the same time. There was no time; no beginning, no end, no past, no future. Only NOW. Only HERE.

And there was joy. Joy in being, in creating, in changing. There was no sadness. No grief. There was no destruction, only re-creation.

It was beautiful.

Aside from a few, such as myself, there was no sense of individual. I assumed that those traces would fade as we merged fully with the Lifestream.

I knew that that was where I was. I had to be. I couldn't be anywhere else... no place could feel as this place did. It was brilliant... beautiful... I wanted to join it, too.

But something held me back. The individual part of me did not fade as the others did. Perhaps because of what I am... one of the Cetra. But the sense of something left undone stayed with me.

I drifted apart from the group... something I couldn't identify pulled me away. I moved faster, once I stopped resisting. Instead I followed the pull, curious about what was happening.
